10-15-2023 The last hooray!

Just as I was hoping, temperatures have cooled down in the last few days.

Now is time to clean up, transplant, move some dirt and more wood chips, putting my beds to rest for the winter. (Only the gardener never gets to rest but, then, it keeps him out of trouble!)

07-16-2023 Summer, when only true gardeners still venture out!

We are now at that time of year when heat and humidity make it fairly unpleasant to spend any time outside; this is when weeds grow at their best running ahead of the less motivated human.

Still have a few flowers, cucumbers, peppers, eggplants and my first tomatoes since I planted late. Most of my bush beans were destroyed by a good size groundhog that tore the place to pieces. To quote one of my neighbors:"What do you want, you make your place welcoming and complain when the wildlife acts just ...wild?"

The number of honeybees has gone up some but the wild bees, the tiny ones seem to have disappeared, period. That concerns me since so many of them where doing the pollination in the past.
